I thought that he was sexist, christianist and corporatist. But after eight years of horror, I thought that, finally, at least we wouldn't have a sociopath as our president. I didn't think Obama was someone who could kill coldly for profit or political gain.

Aw, shit.Terralunanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9085926.post-66641445852953843642010-01-26T22:50:21.889-05:002010-01-26T22:50:21.889-05:00wadr to Mr. Green, this article, like so many othe...wadr to Mr. Green, this article, like so many others, calls to mind the adage about "beware the terrible simplifiers." He offers up a witty, succinct historical retrospective, to be sure, but in all, it is hardly dynamic in explanation and too hyperbolic to do much more than shed heat instead of light (ex., "The D's stood by silently while two elections were stolen?" Really? Was it not the SCOTUS who rendered a conservative verdict regarding FUBAR-hanging chad ambiguity inherent in discerning voter intent?; an issue conflated with artificial deadlines and a signature by then-Gov. Jeb Bush's SoS Harris?). This is my point. There are always more players. ALL ways.

So here we go again. Amidst the chaos, we can finally feel SECURE now that we can blame the amorphous "Democratic Party" and POTUS. Me, I'm less inclined to premature foreclosure on a Gestalt, which makes me leery of any all-too-neat-and-tidy explanations. Forgive me for being so audacious to suggest that you join me. I remember Obama the Campaigner and I see Obama the Incumbent. Yes, the difference is disconcerting. But I have to think, there's always more than meets the eye and my guess is that we don't know the half of it.

The one silver lining from Mr. Green's article is that the Democratic party IS changing. It's ripe for change. These are the moments we've been thinking might have already passed but in actuality are just now germinating. Look across the aisle and the same thing is happening. I'm starting to think expectancy is key - the key - and we cannot afford to let our minds rest on some asinine, donkey-tail pinning exercise that really only has one aim and gets torn down after the party's over anyways.

We have an opportunity to focus on projects in our own circles. My new mantra is this: Three steps forward, two steps back: meaning, if I have a project w a group of people, I will take three steps together towards progress, then go back and repair two things that are compromising the best foundation we can possibly have together. If we do this with a group of Dems, Progressives & Indies, project-building and undoing all the div&con (!!!) from the past 8 years, in the future Mr. Green's article will be referred to as a nadir of selective points over which we wrung our hands as a warm-up.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9085926.post-31682594489216533092010-01-26T18:13:54.425-05:002010-01-26T18:13:54.425-05:00Yes.
