Well I tried to comment on the concerned Christian mother's blog but she is now "moderating" posts. We will see if this gets published -
:The sender(s) of this information call it an "educational program for childeren [sic] of all ages." Well, this "educational program" is to be followed by a pagan ritual. That's an educational experience my children don't need.
Why not? Are you opposed to your children learning about other religious beliefs and practices?
:Perhaps they thought including a cross and a Star of David would make their pentagram seem acceptable. It isn't.
Why not? What is unacceptable about the pentagram symbol? After all you have 50 pentagrams on your Stars and Stripes and the pentagram is used on U.S. Army vehicles and U.S. Air Force fighter jets and bombers.
:It only shows they don't know what "holidays" are being celebrated this month.
Well actually they do. Pagans were celebrating their Holy Days at the winter solstice thousands of years before Jesus was born. In fact Christians appropriated the pre-existing pagan winter solstice celebrations to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
:I don't know -- yet -- what to do or who to talk to but I will not step aside.
Well perhaps you should inform yourself more about the situation before getting *too* bent out of shape about it, because it does seem that Jerry Falwell is responsible for the fact that religious groups can now distribute announcements of their activities to school children.
I think the fundies should start home schooling. So far home schooling seems to have produced very few adults capable of supporting themselves financially above the poverty level (which will help them follow Jesus' example of poverty) or able to win others over to their worldview as they lack to ability to reason intelligently.
I posted a comment on the Stepford fundie's blog.
ReplyDeleteI asked her if she was so secure in her faith, why does she feel children shouldn't learn about other people's beliefs.
I then asked her if all fundies were bigots like her and her friends.
