kerouac...he was writing zen poetry when mccarthy was rooting up the commies.
jack was in love with life...sure he was a self promoter...but the conservative right crucified him for just this love.
i remember bill buckleys 1968 program on the hippies and bill was questioning the motives of the peace movement during the wierdest bloodiest wildest year...and buckley used the word 'purity'......
jack stopped the conversation and asked buckley what he said,
Purity...said wfb.
