I have, oddly, never done nor heard of a spell that involved a bell, a book, and a candle. But it was a great movie.

One comment leads on to another. The original reference was to a Roman Catholic ritual of perpetual excommunication: after the sentence was pronounced, a book (as it were, the book of life) was closed, a candle extinguished, and a bell tolled as if for the dead.

I did not know that. Thank you!
Interesting comment and info! Thanks! LOVE that movie -- along with my favorite "I Married a Witch" -- which has yet to be released on DVD! (blast them for being stupid!) I do watch it on YouTube. As for the spell -- I wonder if a Home or Space Clearing or Cleansing Spell would count? Your grimoire could ast as the Book; candles are used -- and bells (optional!) are sounded. Just a thought!
