What It Cost
You know what? I hate the current crop of Dems. I hate the Conciliator in Chief who lives in the WH, the cool young guy who took the job away from the experienced older woman who could have actually done the job. And you know what else? My old, tired, disillusioned, broken body is going to show up on November 2nd and vote for the lesser of two evils.
And, if you stay home, if some effete "enthusiasm gap" keeps you away from the polls, well, then, with all due respect, fuck you.
I will never not vote. It cost my foremothers too much to win this right for me.
Now, get your sweet round ass to the polls. Get out there and Vote Like a Girl.

Yup. My Grandmother was one of those women. I've voted in every election since I've been old enough, and will continue to do so, no matter how pissed off, disillusioned or unenthusiastic I may be about the prospect.

Yes!! You are so right on. We must vote and there is always something close to home that is very important and even when we are disappointed the Democrats are a better choice.
I will particularly love thinking of the foremothers who made my vote possible and significant.

it's maddening, and more than a little humiliating. but it really does matter, and there really is more than a dime's worth of difference.
Yup! I always hold my nose and vote, although I'm fortunate that my local and House candidates are better than the usual Dem Dreck.
Hi, I´m writing from Cologne in Germany where we by the way are governed by a woman - Angela Merkel.
Our experience shows: No matter who is the one that lives in any White House, they all have the same problemes: Finances, lobbyism, voters (that have to be "seducted" to vote the "rithgt" party every four years in Germany), laws, debts, globalization, .......debts debts debts.
No matter if it is any "older woman", a little frenchman :-) or a "smart cool guy" - they all face the same problems.
Hope your vote will bring to you what you so dearly miss and wish.

I have experienced one roadblock after another; the board of elections claiming not to have received my application (not the first time either), ridiculous printing requirements, being told I am not registered and then finding that I am, links that require all sorts of information from me and then, instead of bringing me to the ballot, take me to a dead end. I'm going to send in what I have anyway, but I think the local board of elections will declare it invalid. Overseas voting is extremely frustrating for me this year, and I cannot it recall it being so before, even in the Bush years.
Lil has a point-- a lot of people are unhappy with Merkel these days and it doesn't have to do with her gender.
I also wish that Obama had been able to accomplish more in his first two years. However, I don't think that President Hillary Clinton would have been able to accomplish more, given the extremely hostile Republican contingent in Congress. Not only was she hated by the right for a lot longer time, but what skills does she bring to the table that Obama does not?
People seem to think that this man is a naif (perhaps that's his secret weapon). You don't get to be "The First Black President" of these still-racist (and, yes, sexist) United States without being a political genius. Remember, this man out-politcked the Clintons!
Experts(including master-operator Rahm Emanuel) told Obama that he couldn't get any meaningful Health Care Reform. Obama helped Pelosi and Reid pull it off. No, we didn't get Single Payer, or even a Public Option. I maintain that those were unattainable in this climate. How would Clinton, or anyone, convince Joe Lieberman, Ben Nelson, Blanche Lincoln, Mary Landrew, et al to have voted for more?
Iron Jawed Angels is one of my all time favorite movies. I watch it often and cry with respect for those women every time. Ive never been to the Alice Paul House here in DC but I do want to go soon.
I will not only vote on Tuesday, I'm also proud to say that I registered four new voters last week.

I guess if I needed someone to sit on the Walmart Board of Directors (again), or to sponsor a flag-burning amendment (against, btw), or to fail to pass Health Care Reform, I would have to choose Hillary Clinton over Barack Obama. Since I don't need any of those things, I can't guess why she would be a better President.
