CHICAGO (MarketWatch) -- Executives at Wal-Mart Stores Inc., facing a rising chorus of criticism about labor practices and efforts to move into banking, will try to shift the focus to customers this week when they make a series of presentations to the media.
Nothing will ever induce me to set foot in Wal-Mart's. I'll starve first. Aside from their appalling labor practices, they are the cause of untold numbers of jobs being shipped overseas not to mention the demise of small retail businesses in communities across the country. Talk about anti-American!
Far and away the least Coppola, Christopher, guiding maven and light unto the film-production darkness in New Mexico, has been involved in making films that are to be shown in Wal-Mart stores playing up the meme of "compassionate corporate citizen."
I agree with Ellie Finlay! I also know many states and communities end up paying for medical services for the employees of Wal-Mart who do not receive medical coverage and don't earn enough to pay for insurance.
I'm a woman, a Witch, a mother, a grandmother, an eco-feminist, a gardener, a reader, a writer, and a priestess of the Great Mother Earth. Hecate appears in the
Homeric Ode to Demeter, which tells of Hades who caught Persophone
"up reluctant on his golden car and bare her away lamenting. . . . But no one, either of the deathless gods or of mortal men, heard her voice, nor yet the olive-trees bearing rich fruit: only tenderhearted Hecate, bright-coiffed, the daughter of Persaeus, heard the girl from her cave . . . ."
