I spent more than an hour trying to find a clip of this song last night and failed. Maybe my problem was when I didn't find it in many pages of "Camelot" clips, I searched for "Julie Andrews", but not the movie version. I hated the movie version, because I saw the original cast on B'Way. Twice.
But for more than 20 years, this has always been the first song I play on Beltaine. I've woken up a campground of Pagans to this song. As snow fell.
Here's to the joy of May, Maiden and Lover, field and orchards swelling with the hope of new life.
I searched quite a bit; finally found it under Vanessa Redgrave, but not under Camelot. Goddess, Vanessa got it right, didn't she? May the Goddess bless you on this full-moon Beltane. May your wildflowers bloom and bloom and bloom. And, honestly, may they bloom some more. May they make bee colonies healthy and may the make the desert bloom. Beltane blessings to you.
I'm a woman, a Witch, a mother, a grandmother, an eco-feminist, a gardener, a reader, a writer, and a priestess of the Great Mother Earth. Hecate appears in the
Homeric Ode to Demeter, which tells of Hades who caught Persophone
"up reluctant on his golden car and bare her away lamenting. . . . But no one, either of the deathless gods or of mortal men, heard her voice, nor yet the olive-trees bearing rich fruit: only tenderhearted Hecate, bright-coiffed, the daughter of Persaeus, heard the girl from her cave . . . ."

Excellent choice for the season, Goddess.
Merry May Hecate

Dear Red,
