Fuck That Shit

Fuck you, asshole.

We, as neighbors, get together and pay taxes and create a government that can, efficiently and fairly, help our neighbors.

Fuck you.

First do no harm; the hypocritic oath instead of the hippocratic oath, reconstituted by some who should practice it. He knows the words but not the deeds.

My words exactly-I have roots in Oklahoma. I know the neighbors are helping but, asshole, no neighbors have an extra $50,00 their families will not need. Jeez-the world he is pointing to has ended- the farmers had to go to town to scratch out a living because corporate farming has driven the family farmer in to the red Oklahoma dirt. What an absolute asshole.

One thing that is really obscene about this is that we would ALL (sorry for shouting) benefit from living in a society where health care is universally available.

not just him. That audience fucking CLAPPED.

A few things: Of course the audience clapped, Coburn's knows all the values voters' dog-whistles that resonate with love thy neighbor. Who isn't for that? Further, they might have just as much been clapping to ease the profound tension in the room.

The woman (who, for starters, desperately needs respite care herself) accurately presents the situation as one requiring someone who is *trained* as an occupational therapist to work w patients w TBI's. It is painstaking, highly technical and personally customized work to retrain individuals to do basic life skills like swallowing, chewing and speaking.

Coburn (R-Soulless) not only misses the point that such care is highly skilled and beyond the scope of supportive care we can give one another as neighbors, his comment is symptomatic of his economic paradigm where ALL helping/healing work=voluntary, unpaid, charitable work. It reflects his, and seemingly the prevailing valuing by TPTB of of the various occupations in this country.

Hyper-capitalism values hoarding of knowledge/resources. If you educate, feed, heal, rehabilitate as a public good you're giving away the farm. Skills in these areas are not regarded as commercially worthy. But if you have the highly technical, customized skills with the goal of keeping others from competing, now you're talking.

Com-merce used to mean something else once upon a time. Mercy means heavenly rewards.

Couldn't even watch the clip to the end. Evil fuck. He should have demanded that every "good neighbor" in the hall immediately give $4000 to the woman to cover the care her husband needs. Then we'd see how much neighbors love each other.

As two former Canucks now living in Texas (and after 10 years of waiting -- now U.S. citizens) -- this clip made us both so angry that we couldn't speak! Where are the good local Christians rising up instantly to help this poor woman? (snorts) Where is the help from the mega-churches? (eyes rolling) What would their own Jesus do? (sigh) As two people without health care right now -- we are bloody scared ...

I don't really care WHY they clapped. The fact that they did was appalling and showed how little so many people actually think. I don't care if they did it to comfort themselves. They should have been comforting HER. The audience was as bad as the speaker. They should all be horsewhipped. I wonder how many even thought to give her a $20.
