Many Happy Returns of the Day!

Today is my daughter-in-law's birthday and, although she is one of the most active people I know, she's spending her birthday on bed rest in order to help my grandchild be born at the right time. My daughter-in-law is smart, funny, gorgeous, brave, down-to-earth, kind, inquisitive, understanding, open-minded, and one of the best prosecutors in the business. She makes my son incredibly happy and she's going to be an amazing mom. One of the luckiest days of my life was the day she said, "Yes" to my son's proposal and became a member of our family.

Leave a note for her in Comments. She could use a bit of cheering up!

Bed rest. Oooooh there are days when the prospect of bed rest is more tatalizing than anything they could offer on the buffet line. Sucks to get it by being under the weather but take it anyway and embrace it. May you collect so many annaversaries of wonderful days that there isn't room to put them all and they have to share.

My dear, I only wish I had the wonderful relationship with my MIL that you and Hecate have. I agree - you're going to be a wonderful mom and "the parasite" will have a wonderful grammy in Hecate! Goddess bless you for doing what's best for the little visitor, even though I know the bed rest is killing you.

A very happy birthday, with the hopes of many more.

May the best days of your past be the worst days of your future and that of your family.

Dear Hecate's d-i-l

Happy Birthday to you -- this is also my (half) brother's birthday

I do believe that I would find bed rest a cheering prospect, but since you do not, remember the words of Jezebel (sadly, only in the Jerusalem Bible translation) "Cheer up and you will feel better." (I Kings 21:7a) -- Deny that truth if you will!

heehee. Bedrest. Get it while you can. Before kids I could only sleep with a certain pillow, on a firm mattress, in a quiet room. After kids I can literally doze standing on a crowded subway train.

And you know what, I wouldn't trade it for the world. Don't forget to enjoy that baby when he/she comes. We get so caught up in the little one's care, we forget to just enjoy.

Many, many happy returns of the day.

Happy birthday, Hecate's daughter-in-law. Don't know if it will cheer you up to hear from strange people (in whatever sense), but I'd say you got a pretty neat mom-in-law to want to cheer you up.

I only have an "honorary kid" myself, but I lived with her for her first year, and you may want to use some of your "downtime" searching out good sneakers on-line - little rugrats can run you ragged!

Best wishes for you and the family!!

What a wonderful day to have a birthday! If you don't have satellite radio, it might be worth the indulgence to help you get through the bed rest boredom. Bright Blessings to you, your wonderful family and your little passenger of love!

DIL of Hecate,
You are a very lucky woman to have Hecate in your life, I only know her from her postings/blog but she speaks very highly of you.
Try to enjoy your bedrest and make sure that you are just a little bit pampered.
Happy Birthday DIL!

Hecate has kept us informed about your travails and have been praying for both you and the bambino. You've been a trouper through this all and I know that all your hard work, including being on bedrest when you'd rather be around and about.
