Dude needs a chill pill immediately, and an involuntary vacation in the long run.

He's gonna cost Baltimore mega-bucks in some future brutality suit.

One word, BULLY!

Young kids get on my nerves but if they are not hurting anyone then there is no problem.

RSA, the police, members of the great Repressive State Apparatus. Note how he, using patriarchal ideologist enforces the definition of dude. “A dude is someone on a ranch.” His language or no language. Dude is what dude is and to fourteen year olds dude is not someone on a ranch.

That "security guard" assaulted a minor. A serious offense. Hope that kid with the video camera gave the tape to the appropriate authorities.

The "officer" has been suspended pending an investigation and there will be an interview with the boy and his mom on WBAL 11 TV at 11 tonight 2/13. I have seen this power tripping by law enforcement personel before. Do not assume they are the good guys- many are pretty ignorant human beings. i would hope that he will be fired- but I wouldn't count on it...

Maybe I'm missing something here but I don't see how this constitutes patriarchy.

Certainly, this officer is an asshole. He's incompetent, officious and power drunk but these things are not the direct result of him being male nor is his authority predicated on his gender. Female police officers are every bit as capable of this kind of behavior. Indeed, I've seen as much as recently as last week, though I wasn't lucky enough to catch it on tape.

I don't say this to be flippant. It's possible that I'm misunderstanding the application of the word in this instance. By patriarchy, do we mean any act of general assholism or power abuse by a man? Are we making the obvious pop psychology assumption that this man is a jerk because he harbors sexual insecurities or because he has beta-male power issues?

If that is the case, I can understand that thought process but it should be said that the fact that this guy is an abusive power junkie is not the direct or inevitable product of his gender.
