I cannot watch this. I remember it too well. I was fortunate to see MLK when he was in DC, giving the sermon at Washington [aka National] Cathedral, just a few days before he was assassinated. There were no vacant seats in the enormous cathedral by the time I arrived. SRO, as they say, and people standing everywhere in the cathedral. It was Lent. Episcopal priests in purple robes led the procession, MLK followed, robed in humbler (Baptist?) black. I was suprised that he was a short man, so large, so tall was he in my mind. And still is. I believe that was his last Sunday sermon. Blessed be.
I'm a woman, a Witch, a mother, a grandmother, an eco-feminist, a gardener, a reader, a writer, and a priestess of the Great Mother Earth. Hecate appears in the
Homeric Ode to Demeter, which tells of Hades who caught Persophone
"up reluctant on his golden car and bare her away lamenting. . . . But no one, either of the deathless gods or of mortal men, heard her voice, nor yet the olive-trees bearing rich fruit: only tenderhearted Hecate, bright-coiffed, the daughter of Persaeus, heard the girl from her cave . . . ."
