On Calling Sarah Palin A Bitch

Pretty Much:

(Seven Posts in Seven Days - Day 1)

I am surprised that some of you are up in arms about my calling Sarah Palin a bitch, or John McCain an ass or even George Bush a jackass. I read your comments about how I should be more respectable and not call Sarah Palin a bitch. Some of you are actually praying for me because I called John McCain an ass. In particular I am struck by the comments that suggest the problem with our country is that we can’t have an intelligent conversation to solve our problems without resorting to name calling like when I called George Bush a jackass.

Well this old broad is hurt. Clearly I didn’t start this blog to call Sarah Palin a bitch…or John McCain an ass… or even George Bush a jackass. I am so sorry if I have offended any of you. What was I thinking when I called Sarah Palin a bitch?

New rules:

I will stop calling George Bush a jackass when he stops calling me a terrorist: Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists.

I will stop calling John McCain an ass when he stops calling Barack Obama a socialist at every dog and pony show on the Straight Talk Express tour.

I will stop calling Sarah Palin a bitch when she stops calling Obama a terrorist sympathizer. And I will stop calling Sarah Palin a bitch when she stops calling the parts of the country where I don’t live more Pro-American than the part of the country where I do live. And I will definitely stop calling Sarah Palin a bitch when she stops acting like a bitch.

I’m old enough to remember the Republican party of Barry Goldwater - when the party stood for fiscal responsibility, small government and personal freedoms. I remember when I could talk with friends about politics and just agree to disagree. And then religious nut cases decided that if you didn’t agree with them you were immoral. So they went and elected George Bush President so he could take the Republican Party from being a party full of respectable people to a party filled with asses, jackasses and yes - bitches like Sarah Palin.

I am tired of Rush Limbaugh suggesting that feminism is a dirty word. How hard did he fight to gain the right to vote? Or own property in his own name? Or get equal pay for equal work?

And I am tired of Sean Hannity suggesting I am un-American because I don’t think that war is the answer to everything. How many bullets has he taken defending his country in battle?

And I am tired that Sarah Palin can decide what she wants to do with her body but other women can’t make that decision for themselves.

NEW, New Rules:

If you are not for me, you are against me. I’ll get over it. Now kindly return the favor.

Oh…and one last thing. Elisabeth Hasselbeck is still a moron. There is just no way around that, Folks.

Thanks for stopping by everyone. I am doing fine. Thanks for asking. I mean it

It may be that this whole election is really about the fact that the economy tanked a few weeks before election day and that nothing else matters. But I'd like to think that this election has shown that you can no longer win by calling other Americans names, impugning their patriotism, lying about (Goddess guard us) their religion, or digging up the odd weird relative or former vague association. If true, that would be a really good thing, IMHO.

Update: Peter Beinart has some interesting thoughts on this topic.

I could not agree more - with every single word. I was just talking with friends about..what happened to the GOP, when did it become the party of wing-nuts?
I will call Palin a bitch anytime I feel like it, she has earned it.
I just call her Caribou Barbie most of the time, I don't have to censor that round kids. ;-)

I agree with every word as well. I am more offended each and every time I hear any of them refer to their god, their religion, their beliefs as if they are the one and only, the "right" way, making the rest of us, of course, "wrong"

Goddess willing, Obama will win on Tuesday and afterwards, I hope, they will slink away.

I hate it when you beat around the bush. Just tell us what you mean to say, already!
;-)

Seriously, though, I remember those days, too. You know who it was that brought all this about, right?
Who it was that made his name speaking in fornt of an empty House chamber to the C-SPAN cameras? Who laid down the ground rules for the new GOP campaign style?
Newt Gingrich.
Yup, that one.
Blame the guy named after a cold-blooded amphibian that abandons its young. The guy who hounded a President about indiscretions in the Oval Office (not that I'm excusing them, but they were hardly worthy of impeachment) while he was carrying on an extramarital affair (can I hear anyone say, "hypocrite?").

His addresses to GOPAC in the 1980's set forth in great detail the manner in which Gingrich believed campaigns should be conducted. They've been run that wat ever since.

She's a bitch.

Keep letting the truth come to your lips dear. These are not rational people and they are not polite company, so those rules do not apply. Besides, I have much stronger words for these people that I won't use with the polite company here.

Oh and I like what I heard someone call here even better than Caribou Barbie... Bible Spice

Oh, thank you for a Monday smile----and I am praying for you, too. To all my Goddesses of kicking ass, I am praying that you go on calling the Republithugs exactly what they act like: ass, jackass, and bitch. Course, I don't call Palin a bitch, she is under-qualified for that, too, in my opinion. I call her something that requires no brains to be.

The problem with "bitch" is that it is applicable only to women. It is misogyny in a single word. It is used to keep women, and women ONLY, down -- much like c**t. Sarah Palin could also be called an asshole, a jerk, an idiot, a megalomaniac, a bigot, and a misogynist herself.

"Bitch" should not be used, especially by feminists, because it is a word specifically loaded against women. There is no word that in itself denigrates men because it only applies to men. "Bastard," which is used as the common counter to "bitch," is still a word meant to denigrate the mother of an "illegitimate" child.

You have the right to say exactly what you please on your own blog. If others don't like what you say, too bad for them. There are millions of blogs out there.

Personally, I haven't called Sarah Palin a "bitch" because it's too good for her. When someone calls me a bitch, or better yet, fucking bitch, I smile broadly and say, "Thank you!" I consider it a compliment. Sarah Palin gets no compliments from me, not even on her shapely ass and breasts.

In a little over 24 hours, no one will give a flying fuck for Sarah Palin anyway, so call her what you please. I call her "history."

Peace, V.

Keep calling them as you see them Hecate. If tin foil hattie is upset at the word bitch then call Palin a jackass, or a doofus or an ignorant, sequestered, narrow minded person...whatever.

Listen, as a rule liberal people tend to be more tolerant and can be flexible and think in shades of gray. Conservatives tend to be fearful and think in black & white. There have been brain studies in recent years that suggest it is inherent. We are arguing for naught. We apparantly cannot change each other's minds.

I am sick of the right wing screamers getting more air time to denounce anyone who doesn't agree with their views as un-american, hateful, a jerk, etc. The trouble is the liberals try to have a reasoned discussion and the O'Reillys and Hannitys just want to scream until we let crazy people like Ann Coulter be treated as if she is a serious scholar.

And somehow the corporate media rewards the crazy haters with millions of dollars. Thsnkfully Rachel Maddow and Obama may be leading the way to a new, calmer and more thoughtful way to discuss issues.

I just don't like "bitch," for the reasons I gave. I don't like "c**t," either. I'm not "upset" about it. Please don't project.

I think women should not attack one another using sexist and misogynist terms. Is that such a surprising viewpoint?

Of course hecate can post anything she likes on her blog. I am offering my opinion about something she wrote.

The problem I have with the term "asshole" is this:
An asshole has a function.

I see no reason to not call Sarah Palin a bitch because of some feminist solidarity issue. She is not a feminist, she is a sell-out of a woman and I do call her the other word. I get called "bitch" routinely and smill and say, that is Ms. Bitch to you. Palin isn't a bitch to compare to me...but she is a c**t and I WILL denigrate her as the patriarchal ass-kisser she is.

Listen, tinfoil hattie, gender protection has no place as the same as ethnic protection. Not all women, men, whites, blacks, asians etc think alike nor should we agree with each other just on that basis. If we did then all women who supported Hillary would automatically vote for McCain because he put a person with a vagina on his ticket.
The ultimate is equality comes from being judged on how we conduct ourselves and what we believe and support, not what gender we are or pretend to be or what parts we actually have.
That will be true equality.

Well I'm with you for certain. I save myself time and effort and simply refer to them all as fucktards. Saves breath it does.

Yes, it is nice to play nice but when they slap me down and do what they can to tell me that even though I am American born I do not count for anything, then fie on them. I still think we should set Palin down in a field of snow, rise in our copters and tell her to start running...

Fucktards.
