Honestly, it's amazing to me that, as states and towns all over the country cut needed services due to a lack of funds, people tolerate the waste of money on this sort of xianist nonsense.
I remember when I worked for a state senator in Maryland back in the late 1970s, there were still anti-sodomy laws on the Maryland books. My boss said it was because nobody wanted the reputation of being the one to rip the laws out. I think the legislature finally did it, probably in some midnight session when no one was around.
I'm a woman, a Witch, a mother, a grandmother, an eco-feminist, a gardener, a reader, a writer, and a priestess of the Great Mother Earth. Hecate appears in the
Homeric Ode to Demeter, which tells of Hades who caught Persophone
"up reluctant on his golden car and bare her away lamenting. . . . But no one, either of the deathless gods or of mortal men, heard her voice, nor yet the olive-trees bearing rich fruit: only tenderhearted Hecate, bright-coiffed, the daughter of Persaeus, heard the girl from her cave . . . ."

Anne,
What's funny is that they'll spend money defending this nonsense when they're given a good "out."
