The argument that backstreet abortions (with their complications) will follow is not relevant to the argument that abortion is murder (intentional killing of innocent human life). It is illogical to use this strawman in defense of choice.
If something is murder, it is unjust and should not be done, for consistency's sake. Otherwise why not allow murder at any age?
It is easier to abstain than murder surely? Or is holding out a bit for someone you really love so terribly hard? Don't want a baby, don't have sex. Don't want a baby after making a mistake, give it up for adoption and don't repeat the same stupid mistake again. Accept responsibility as a rational human being.
I'm a woman, a Witch, a mother, a grandmother, an eco-feminist, a gardener, a reader, a writer, and a priestess of the Great Mother Earth. Hecate appears in the
Homeric Ode to Demeter, which tells of Hades who caught Persophone
"up reluctant on his golden car and bare her away lamenting. . . . But no one, either of the deathless gods or of mortal men, heard her voice, nor yet the olive-trees bearing rich fruit: only tenderhearted Hecate, bright-coiffed, the daughter of Persaeus, heard the girl from her cave . . . ."
