This is really interesting. Yesterday, we heard how our female scholars have outperformed the males in Matric (final year secondary school) by a massive amount. 16 of the 20 top performers were girls. It seems to be causing a small stir, with one African lady calling the talk show to complain of our President's gender-equality position-and how that's done for the poor boys. I also heard how in England, medical school is so full of female students that 'they' are thinking of implementing some affirmative action policies for boys. Jusr goes to show - if you open the door for us, we'll take over. No wonder we had to keep the lid on us for so long. Love, Terri in Joburg
I'm a woman, a Witch, a mother, a grandmother, an eco-feminist, a gardener, a reader, a writer, and a priestess of the Great Mother Earth. Hecate appears in the
Homeric Ode to Demeter, which tells of Hades who caught Persophone
"up reluctant on his golden car and bare her away lamenting. . . . But no one, either of the deathless gods or of mortal men, heard her voice, nor yet the olive-trees bearing rich fruit: only tenderhearted Hecate, bright-coiffed, the daughter of Persaeus, heard the girl from her cave . . . ."
