To Whom Would Jesus Deny Mammograms?

WaPo explains that the Catholic church is now going after women with breast cancer.

The Diocese of Little Rock is urging its members not to donate to a breast cancer foundation known for its fundraising races across the globe because the group supports Planned Parenthood.

The diocese says the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation, which has invested about $1 billion in cancer outreach and research, gives money to Planned Parenthood to hold breast exams and offer education to women in its clinics.

Donors cannot control how an organization designates its funds," a diocese statement reads. "Therefore, money donated for a specific service ... directly frees up funds to support other areas of an organization's agenda."

Marianne Linane, director of the diocese's "respect life" office, said those other agendas includes abortions and contraceptive services. The Catholic church's policy is that abortion is wrong in every instance.

I am glad to see that she understands the basic reason why faith-based funding is actually unconstitutional: money is fungible. Money provided for a specific purpose frees up funds to support, oh, say prostelytizing against women with breast cancer.

I hate these fucking fucks.

Take heart, Hecate - American Catholics don't necessarily take every burp and fart from their clergy as Holy Writ...I wouldn't be surprised if there was a lot of eye-rolling in the pews on this nonsense...

Is "Fucking Fuck" one of your legal terms? I think the that your earth would be a relatively nice place to inhabit if it weren't for religion and nationalism. For now, I can't wait for the spacecraft from my home planet to return and
get me off this orb. My recommendation to the intergalactic council will be to surround Earth with quarantine beacons. Wouldn't want
any of my interstellar friends to get caught up in the apocalypse

Now I have to dig out my F@#!ing insults from long term memory.

I like these:

F#@! them and anyone who looks like them.

F#@! them and the horse they rode in on.

F#@! off you dickhead wankers

F#@! you very much.

and a (male identified) classic:

Take a flying F#@! through a rolling donut! (Kurt V., of course)

I will enjoy hearing Stephen "I *teach* Sunday school, motherF@#!er!") Colbert's comments on this.

The Catholic Church, like the Republican Party, is past it sell-by date. Everyone realizes it--ooh what's that smell--but them. For my own spirtitual development, I'll spare a moment of pity for these bitter, dead-enders who've been "left behind."

What MasterD said. There are lots of reasonable American Catholics out there. Unfortunately they don't get the megaphone.

I was born and raised Catholic until I left the nest. Now, I reject that dusty ol' catechism for a more natural faith.

I guess there are still those who follow Catholic dogma, but then there are those who believe the Earth is flat...

and those who believe that Jesus is coming back with a hard-on for non-Christians...

and those who believe God created the universe in six days with Play-doh and Silly Putty.

and those who think George W. Bush is one hell of a president.

Ignorance is no excuse for stupidity.

Fuck the Catholic Church, Pope Benny the Grand Inquisitor, all the Cardinals and the not-so celibate priests everywhere.
give generously to the Susan B. Komen Fund if for no other reason than spite.

Folks, I'd be willing to be that this has little to do with the Catholic Church and much to do with the fact that it's ARKANSAS. Hardly the place to find enlightened viewpoints, is it? Most other dioceses, if they tried to pull this, would either be completely ignored or immediately receive a tsunami of phone calls and emails from angry Catholics. We've learned the hard way that true intelligence is often a barrier to promotion in the Church hierarchy.

HEY! We resemble that remark. It's true Arkansas is pretty backwards in a lot of ways. I often characterize it as the belt buckle of the Bible Belt. However, at least we're doing better than Mississippi and South Carolina.

You might want to read the WaPo article.

Even I, a super-atheist, realize that not all Catholics are total hate-ridden pinheads. Heck, Dennis Kucinich is a Catholic. So is Ted Kennedy, if memory serves.

Not that that excueses these fucking fucks.
