I was lucky enough to see this film a few weeks ago; it is truly extraordinary. There is a very moving interview with the sons of one of the artists; wise young men who know how important the work of their mother is, even though she had to go through nasty custody battles because of being "just" an artist. The film is a beautiful testimonial to the imperative to make art, and the special obstacles that women face, especially if they have children.

I'm a woman, a Witch, a mother, a grandmother, an eco-feminist, a gardener, a reader, a writer, and a priestess of the Great Mother Earth. Hecate appears in the
Homeric Ode to Demeter, which tells of Hades who caught Persophone
"up reluctant on his golden car and bare her away lamenting. . . . But no one, either of the deathless gods or of mortal men, heard her voice, nor yet the olive-trees bearing rich fruit: only tenderhearted Hecate, bright-coiffed, the daughter of Persaeus, heard the girl from her cave . . . ."

Wow. And so true. Society marginalized the importance of hearth, home, Mums, Artists. And they are showing the very Deepest Magic.
