All Bush Is Saying, Is Give War A Chance

I think Uggabugga gets it exactly right. They really like war. Sure, it makes them lots of money and, sure, they at least imagine that someday some sort of good will come out of it, but that's the window dressing. The truth is that they like war, they enjoy war, and they're unhappy when they don't have one. And as long as we imagine that this just couldn't be true, we'll fail to address the problem.

yup, i am singe from the atrios blog who knows not how to work login in's. but you are on to something...war is fun for these turkeys. i remember the scene in "born on the fourth of july" when ron and friends are running in a little woods on long island in the fifties playing war. it was exactly how things were back there then, our fathers had been to war and we wanted to go too. but even in those days if you got to talk to one of those fathers, the ones who'd been in combat, they didn't act like it was fun and many of them had twitches that caused them to jump out of bed in the middle of the night if there was a loud noise and of course nightmares....and then their younger brothers went to korea and their sons to vietnam and they didn't come back smiling either.

but bush didn't go to war, or rummy or cheney or condi... and they were able to avoid the hollow stares of the veterans and so they stayed on long island, playing war, going rat-a-tat-tat mowing down germans or koreans and they love to watch other people's kids get blown to pieces. and they tell each other they are making "tough" choices the rest of us couldn't make and we will thank them later....but actually you are right, they are having a blast!
